A little about me...

So, where to begin... Well, I'm Jules. I'm an Irish lass, originally from Dublin but I now call London home. I've taken the scenic route to a career in photography having earned my degree in really geeky Financial Maths and Economics type stuff. If you ever need a picture taken of someone pricing a stock option, I'm the woman for the job!

I've been taking photographs for literally as long as I can remember. The love of photography probably comes from wanting to escape the lens of the camera myself. It seems I've always been a bigger fan of being behind the camera rather than in front of it.

Trying my hardest not to sound cliched, I find it incredibly fufilling to be responsible for capturing a moment, a freeze-frame, of somebody's life. Whether that is a moment from their early years or on their wedding day. To me, a photograph is all about soaking up the emotion of that second and allowing the real personality of the person shine through. The camera should be an invisible observer, not the centre of attention.

All of my favourite photos capture something, it's intangible but it's there. They remind me of the little details of the moment and some are of particular importance to me. For example below are some shots of my Gran. She was never one for photos and in any other family shots she tended to wear a grimace that belied her true personality and character. Sadly she passed away some time ago, but when I look at these photos I remember her exactly as she was.

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
Aaron Siskind

While I'll tend to snap anything in front of a camera in my free time, professionally I specialise in portrait, event and wedding photography. Essentially anything involving people!
